Hamilton Gardens

In direct inspiration
Fertilisation
And perspiration
The Geoffreyness
Of indoor gardening
Never fails to delight
In greenish light
In blooms so bright
The growth of years
Spring clear
Into a wondrous sight.

From the Bland’s plant
With its unique essence
Gives an aromatically royal presence

To the globular
Enormous
Fine sword like pines
That pierce an unwary gardener
Sharpness
But contracted
By its healthy watery fullness.

‘N’ roots
Are zoots
As they suck the earth/ compost to desert feel
Converting molecules into chlorophyll

Stripes ‘n’ strips ‘n’ star like leaves
Savage edged yukka
Sidle the rubbery trees.

Loose leaves goose leaves ‘n’ speckled umbrellas
Climbing walls cascading falls – clever fellas
A fountain of dark ribbons
That stretch always towards the light.
