Showers of Delight

Jesters and acrobats release the tears
That have formed inside a thousand dark years,
And the gas oven becomes the cooker again,
The rope, a larger piece of string
Daylight robs the world of menace
It neatly places
Our heads into spheres of happiness
Turning on the taps of joy
Is like bathing when I was a boy
The excitement electrifies.

Jokers and panto artists dance their merry way
as the dawn shovels in a brand new day
expectations larger than one can say
loom into view obscuring the clouds
in total immersion the journey explodes
inwards, lighting a million tiny fires
that look like the night sky crammed with stars
in showers of delight
the smile stays and the tears dry,
we are reborn again,
we’re the same again.
